About this Database
The "Visual History Filmography" lists documentary films dealing with National Socialism (including the Holocaust) and films in general that utilize iconic footage from that era. It informs you about the quantity and specific types of iconic film materials included or utilized in each film, while also serving as a comprehensive filmography for any kind of Holocaust or Nazi-era research. All search results can be exported and saved as CSV files for further analysis and use. It is not a filmography of Holocaust or Nazi-related films in general. You should find every documentary about the Holocaust, but only those Holocaust or Nazi related dramas that are making use of iconic film footage.
The Advanced-Mode allows you to expand the number of iconic materials from 9 to 48 and enables advanced statistical evaluation with much more refined search capabilities. This enhanced functionality allows researchers to follow the image migration of specific material across different films and productions, as well as analyze the interconnection of two or more specific materials to understand how iconic footage is combined, referenced, or repurposed across the documentary landscape.
